What knowledge must the sick accumulate in order to position themselves properly to receive healing from God? (Part 2)

There is a God-side and a man-side to every truth.

We have to teach the God-side AND the man-side. When we teach the God-side first, it makes the man-side easier.

Knowledge must precede compliance.

God-side of salvation (John 3:16)
  1. God's love for them
  2. Depths of that love expressed in sending Jesus to the cross
  3. Jesus died for their sins.

Man-side of salvation (Romans 10:9,10)

  1. True repentance
  2. Must confess Jesus as Lord
  3. Must believe in their heart that God raised Jesus from the dead.

Teach the God-side first, then teach the man-side; it makes the man-side easier. This principle is a universal one. Whether we are talking about the subject of forgiveness, the subject of prayer, or the subject of marriage, there are things about our God that we must come to understand if we are to comply with the personal responsibilities that have been placed upon us.

Now that we understand this primary principle, it becomes clear that our ability to position ourselves properly for healing depends upon how teachable we are. Our willingness to learn and apply the principles that we will learn will determine the amount of results that will be obtained.

Mark 4:24 And He said to them, Be careful what you are hearing. The measure [of thought and study] you give [to the truth you hear] will be the measure [of virtue and knowledge] that comes back to you--and more [besides] will be given to you who hear. (Amplified Bible)

The degree of importance that we place upon what we hear determines the quantity and the quality of the fruit produced in our lives.

When little importance is placed upon the truths revealed, little fruit will be produced. On the other hand, the more importance that we place upon the truths revealed, the more results we will see.

Believing that We Receive When We Pray

Mark 11:24 For this reason I am telling you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe (trust and be confident) that it is granted to you, and you will [get it].

Believing we receive when we pray is the position we must be in if we desire to be healed by faith. Jesus clearly stated that if we are in this position, "you will get it."

For teaching purposes only, let's look at it as a spiritual equation.

Desire

+ Pray

+ Believe that you receive them

----------------------------------

= You shall receive them

Through this equation, it is evident that Jesus did not promise results just because we desire to be healed. Likewise, he did not promise results just because we pray about our situation. However, "You shall have them" (KJV translation) is promised to those who desire, pray and believe that they receive when they pray. Therefore, in order to obtain healing through faith, we must be in the position of believing we receive when we pray.

Understanding this, it becomes clear why we have previously failed in attempts to obtain results in the past. It was not because we had stopped believing we received. It was not because we had wavered. Rather, we have failed because we never entered into the realm of believing we received in the first place.

We cannot waver in an arena that we have never entered into in the first place. The realm that we are promised results in is the realm of believing that we receive when we pray.

The person who is trying to get God to heal them will think, talk and act differently than the person who has prayed and believes that he received when he prayed.
